Comparison between Schlosser and Jenkins

The articles “Your Trusted Friends” written by Eric Schlosser, and “Cpmplete Freedom of Movement”:Video Games as Gendered Play Spaces composed my Henry Jenkins meet some of the same criteria as one another. Both articles contain an easy read quality that allows the reader to read the article and understand it without having to take extra time to look up words or re-read the passage to grasp the concept better. A technique that both authors use to benefit themselves in the category of readability is the use of subtitles to improve the organization of the overall article. Each article is titled something, but as one prgresses through the article they will come upon different subdivisions and slightly different topics compared to the main. By allowing the reader to know what they are about to read it will furthermor help them understand the article. Another similarity between both Schlossler and Jenkin’s articles is that they are both focused around children. In “Your Trusted Friends” Schlosser discusses the increased marketing system that is geared towards the youth and in Jenkins article he talks about the boys vs. girls standpoint in the way that they are brought up. A way that this relates to one another is because one of the main companies that Schlossers passage focused on was the McDonald company, the McDonald company for years has produced two seperate toys to hand out in each kid’s meal, a toy for a female and a different toy for a male child. This also furthers into the concept of the difference between boys and girls and what influences that difference. I am sure that there are many other similarities between the two articles but I am going to have to venture into a deeper thought to grasp the ideas.
